DM4000 appliances can transparently recover from single failures of every system component to provide very high reliability. The storage modules have redundant fans and power supplies, and use RAID-5 to protect against failures of disk drives. Power supplies and disk drives are hot-swappable to minimize the effect of failures on system availability. The DM4200 family provides additional protection against other storage module failures through the use of ASM mirroring and has no single point of failure.
